I have recently been reading a lot about renewable energy and the efforts by nations to reduce climate change. I am quite impressed by a number of social innovations. From CitizensLab to artificial sun stretching to Microsoft Carbon Negative Fortune 500, social innovations are causing a disruption in many spheres of life. I am most impressed with Heliogen as they are working to reduce the effects of climate change by providing the needed energy for firms who are emitting greenhouse gases. They provide the heat required by cement and steel manufacturing companies. These are the direct clients of Heliogen and just imagine the good they are doing to mother Earth. Heliogen’s technology is based on concentrating solar power (CSP). That’s where hundreds of mirrors in a field are all angled to reflect sunlight onto a tower, inside of which is a steam turbine. The heat from the sunlight turns fluid (usually water) to steam, which runs the turbine, which generates power.
The advanced computer vision software unique to Heliogen’s breakthrough technology precisely aligns an array of mirrors to reflect sunlight to a target on the top of a Sunlight Refinery™ tower, delivering high-temperature, carbon-free thermal energy.
The baseline system will provide industrial-grade heat capable of replacing fossil fuels in industrial processes including the production of cement, steel, and petrochemicals.
Heliogen’s technology will also enable power generation through the addition of a supercritical CO2 turbine, and green hydrogen fuel production in combination with an electrolyzer.
The direct needs of clients in this case is to have the required heat for their operations. If they are to produce same heat, it is done in an unsafe manner which release greenhouse gases. It is either Helio Power, Helio Fuel or Helio Heat for their clients.
For volunteers, it depends on what the company wants. It would depend on volunteering roles advertised by the company.
For employees, it would be to ensure the company meets it’s goals. Goals which includes either producing clean power, fuel or heat for industrial processes.
For stakeholders, they could come in the form of partners or investors. Their role would be to ensure Heliogen remains in business to fulfill it’s organizational goals.
Heliogen is a renewable energy technology company focused on eliminating the need for fossil fuels in heavy industry and powering a sustainable future. The company’s AI-enabled, modular concentrated solar technology aims to cost-effectively deliver near 24/7 carbon-free energy in the form of heat, power, or green hydrogen fuel at scale – for the first time in history. the social relationship created is the coming together of all key players, customers or enthusiasts together. People come together when their interest aligns.
There are numerous collaborations created by this social innovation. The organizations bringing news about Heliogen are some collaborators. The Hi-Tech requirements of the company have seen Heliogen requiring high computing abilities. Collaborations from companies in the high computing sector are collaborators in this regard. Computer vision and AI firms are also collaborating with Heliogen.
